Kids

Kids matter.

We believe that what happens in our kids wing is just as important as what's happening in the worship service. At East Bay, we seek to connect kids with God in a way that is meaningful to them — while having fun at the same time!

Explore what our opportunities for kids look like, and reach out if you have any questions or would like to know more.

Our vision

Our vision

At East Bay, we have a passion to love God, love others, and make Jesus known. What better place to start than with the generation that will be the future church! Kids matter to God, and we believe He wants to be a part of their lives right now, not just when they’re older and “grown up” (1 Timothy 4:12).

Sundays

Sunday mornings

Nursery

Nursery is available for newborns–2 years at both 9 and 10:30 am, and is located on the main floor, on the same level as the sanctuary.

Our caring and capable nursery staff will provide attentive care for your child during the service. Nursing rooms are available for mothers if needed, and we ask for your phone number upon arrival so we can text you with any needs during the service.

Preschool

Our 10:30 am preschool ministry is dedicated to providing a loving space where your preschooler can learn from God's Word, participate in a variety of age-appropriate activities, and interact with peers in a safe and caring environment.

K–6th

Our K–6th 10:30 am ministry, Coastal Kids, offers take-home points, engaging activities, meaningful discussion with leaders and peers, and lessons centered on applying God's Word.

The time is split up between small groups with peers and a large group time where K–6th comes together to play a game, celebrate birthdays, talk about the month's theme, and hear an engaging Bible lesson.

9 am Equip

Our 9 am Equip ministry offers classes for preschool and K–6th. Currently, our kids classes are studying their way through the Bible using the Answers in Genesis curriculum, which coordinates with an adult Equip class also available during the 9 am hour.

Safety

Our commitment to safety

Our team

All kids ministry workers complete regular, thorough background checks and undergo child safety training, which is refreshed every two years.

Security

Trained security team personnel are always present at functions involving kids and are posted at building entrances, bathrooms, and other key areas.

Pickup

At check-in for any function involving kids, parent/guardian and child receive claim tag stickers with matching, randomly generated alphanumeric codes. Upon pickup, the parent/guardian MUST present the matching claim tag to pick up their child.

Plan a visit

When you arrive, a welcome team member will guide you to the nursery (main level, to the left of main entry doors) or kids wing (down the stairwells to the right or left).

There, you'll check in your child and fill out a brief registration form, which you can also fill out ahead of time through the link below. You'll receive a temporary claim tag for your child to present upon pickup. If you come again (or preregister), you'll be able to check in with just your child's name and both you and your child will receive a alphanumeric claim tag for pickup.

What to expect

What curriculum do you use?

During our 10:30 am hour, we utilize Orange's 252 Kids curriculum for K–6th and Wonder Ink for preschool. During our 9 am hour, we use Answers in Genesis.

The key points that we appreciate in these curriculums are the monthly themes that tie together Biblical ideas, take-home elements to tie lessons into kids' weeks, and high-quality Bible story videos that engage kids where they are.

Will my child get a snack?

Preschoolers will receive a small snack during the 10:30 am hour. There is no snack time for K–6th, though they can earn a small bag of popcorn by completing and bringing their take-home paper. Occasionally we have special snacks for the whole K–6th group, so be sure to alert us to any allergies or sensitivities.

What do you have for parents?

We recognize that the biggest influence in a child's life is that of a parent or guardian, so our goal is to leverage that influence! We suggest downloading the Parent Cue app (Apple, Android) which offers great resources as you walk with your child in their faith journey. If your child is in Coastal Kids, get in touch with our Children's Ministry Director to get a Monthly Overview, which lets you know what your child will be learning on Sundays.

What do you have for special needs?

We are ready and excited to partner with you in making sure your child's experience at church is a great one. Let us know ahead of time of any specific needs or concerns you may have, and we will happily work with you to accommodate those needs so that your child feels loved, welcomed, and engaged.

Wednesday nights

Awana Clubs, our Wednesday evening program for preschool–6th, teaches kids personal disciplines to grow in their faith through studying and memorizing God's Word and engaging with peers.
