It’s Monday, March 16th and I wanted to update you with some thoughts from our church leaders regarding Covid-19 and its recent developments. Here are a few things you need to hear from us …
#1. We love you. We haven’t been able to tell you that in person for a couple weeks. Know that we miss you, we pray for you and can’t wait to see you again.
#2. We are still in a special position to show our cooperation with and submission to our governing authorities. New governmental guidelines have been passed recently and we readily work with our community leaders for the betterment of those around us. So for now and until at least April 5th, we will hold no church meetings of any size at our church facility.
#3. What a great opportunity to “Love our neighbor as ourselves”. This caution may seem needless if you are not at great risk, however, through our collective sacrifice, we will show that this is not about us and that we truly love our neighbor as ourselves. Let’s gladly accept restrictions and limitations. Let’s reach out to our neighbors and friends. Let’s give, share, call on and love those God has put around us.
Remember that church can never be cancelled, only relocated. For nearly 2 millennia, church, the globe over, has been scattered, and for much worse reasons than this. And God used those times for it to radically grow. It’s never about location. It’s not “we go here”... it’s “Here We GO”! So let’s be the church in our world. Continue to follow us online. Our joint project “10 lessons from Covid-19” is coming soon. Email or call the office if we can help you. We’re always in this together!

Due to recent developments and concerns surrounding coronavirus (COVID-19), the leadership of East Bay Calvary Church has decided to suspend weekend services and other activities until further notice. We believe that this is the wisest course of action for our church and community for the following reasons.
1. It shows a heart of submission to government authorities asking organizations to refrain from holding gatherings larger than 100 people (Romans 13:1; 1 Peter 2:13-25)
2. It displays our love for our community inside and outside our walls by doing our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Northern Michigan (Mark 12:31).
We realize that for many of us, gathering for worship is the highlight of our week and what we need most at times like this. However, we also feel a responsibility as loving neighbors to consider the health and wellness of the entire community.
While our weekend gatherings are suspended, we will still stream services on Facebook and YouTube on Sundays at 10:30am. Additionally, many of you worship by giving, for which we are so appreciative. Because we will not be gathering on weekends, you can continue giving at https://eastbaycalvary.churchcenter.com/giving or mail to 2225 Hammond Road, Traverse City 49686.
Please pray for those affected by the coronavirus and allow the Lord to use you to share his light and love to your neighbors. To that end, if you are sick and need prayer or anything – we are here to help you. Please contact us if there is any way that we can be of help at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As the situation evolves, we will be posting updates on this page and on our social media accounts: Facebook and Instagram.
In This Together
