Our History...
East Bay Calvary was formally organized and incorporated as a church in 1950 as as outgrowth of a Bible study group which had been meeting together for two years. It was decided that the church be nondenominational and seek to build its beliefs on Biblical teaching rather than denominational tradition. This arrangement not only avoids some of the common barriers between people, but enhances our desire to be dependent upon God and obedient to His Word in all things.
What We Believe...
We believe and proclaim the Bible as the only authoritative and infallible Word of God. We hold to the fundamental truths of historic Christianity including the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sacrificial death, bodily resurrection and second coming.
We believe that salvation is by faith in Christ alone and that it is both the obligation and privilege of every Christian believer to live a holy life, maintain good works and proclaim the gospel.
We live in a rapidly changing, fast-paced and complicated world. Our goal is that our message be relevant to the needs of contemporary culture while remaining biblically sound. East Bay Calvary exists for the purpose of proclaiming the truths of God's Word. We want to meet the needs of people in our community with God's answers to real problems.
It is our firm conviction that the answers to the deepest needs in peoples' lives can only be met through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the proper application of the principles of Scripture to their lives. It is our mission to make disciples for Jesus Christ and to worship God.
Our Statement of Mission...
East Bay Calvary is a fellowship of disciples of Jesus Christ whose mission is to worship God (John 4:23,24; Acts 2:42) and obediently endeavor to make disciples of all men (Matt. 28:19,20) by evangelizing the unsaved (Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-48; Acts 1:8), nurturing the saved (Eph. 4:11-16, 2 Tim. 2:2) and ministering to people in Jesus' name (Gal. 5:13,14; Matt. 20:27,28).
Our Vision...
East Bay Calvary Church is a lot of different things, but above all else, we are people-people from all walks of life, all ages, and with different backgrounds, abilities, needs and interests. We are drawn together by a mutual desire to know God in a personal way, to worship Him and live lives that please Him. We place great emphasis on the study of God's Word, the Bible, as our guidebook for life.
